A bully is defined as anyone who repeatedly intimidates, harasses or attacks others using physical, verbal or cyber force. For it to be bullying it has to be repeated. As parents we hate hearing that anything is going wrong with our children, but we seem to be quick to jump to calling another child a “bully” just because they called our child stupid. I’m not saying that the action was right, kind or fair but in this case, if it is one single instance, the child is being mean not being a bully.
We need to understand what bullies are and what the other roles in bullying are so that we can identify them to our children. If we don’t know exactly what a bully is, how can we expect them to properly identify it?
